The Promise of Peace

The Promise of Peace

Peace: The harmony and calmness of body, mind, and spirit trusting in the power and grace of God.

"I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world." John 16:33.

Peace...If you could pick one word to describe the world today, what would it be? With everything going on, few would choose the word "peace." Peace is something that everyone strives for but rarely find. Peace cannot be found in perfect circumstances. Yet, God promises us this very thing, even while the world is in turmoil. Listen to Jesus last words to His desciples a few days before the cross, "Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you." (John 14:27). This promise stands the test of time and remains undisturbed through joy and sorrow. I love this statement by Spurgeon, "What a holy calm there was upon the Spirit of our Divine Master. Never man had more to disturb him, but never man was less disturbed." In the greatest of turmoil, Jesus modled peace. He wished for us to have peace. Take heart, the time is coming when God will bring all disasters and wars to an end. He does not promise we won't go through hard times, yet, He does promise to take our hand and walk us through the valley of darkness."I will never leave you or forsake you!" This is the Promise of Peace!

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all human understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7.

"Maybe it is hard for you to enjoy the sweet sunshine today because you fear a storm will come tomorrow."

Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
