What's On My Heart Today... "Wants Or Needs"
"Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity. What does man gain by all the toil at which he toils under the sun? A generation goes, and a generation comes, but the earth remains forever." Ecclesiastes 1:1-2
We live in a time that we have become used to all the comforts that money can buy. I'm not sure if the word "frugal" is even relevant anymore. Spending too much money on useless things can be a slippery slope to both financial and Spiritual ruin. Does frugality mean we shouldn’t have nice things? It’s important to save for retirement. It’s sensible to have an emergency fund. It’s essential to live within your income and not go into debt. We are accountable to God for how we use everything He gives us in this life, including money. The Bible is clear that money issues are very closely connected to heart issues. Money has the ability to expose all kinds of idols of the heart. As Christians, being frugal is not about how much you can do without or how little money you can spend. It simply means that you shouldn't waste your money on things that have no Eternal value. Today, God would say to you...
"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal."
Matthew 6:19
