When Christians Disagree

What's On My Heart Today... "When Christians Disagree"

"For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died." Romans 14:15

Guess what... this is old news! Christians have been disagreeing in areas of doctrine since the beginning of time. Even in the days when the church was first being birthed, Christians disagreed on how to live, the "Sabbath day," "drinking wine," "proper Diet." Closer to our age, Christians argue about theology, the "Second coming of Christ," "Trinity," "Once saved, always saved" and of course, more recently, "Politics!" Is it any wonder that Paul’s letters to the churches speaks to a strong plea for unity. The question is, "How do you determine God’s will in those areas where Christians disagree?" In the garden of Gethsemane, before Jesus went to the cross, He prayed two things for the disciples; that they would be united as one, and that they would be sanctified in the truth. When we get to heaven, the Lord will reveal the truth to us. Between now and then, there are going to be plenty of disagreements in the church. That’s part of the price we pay for being human. But we have the opportunity to deal with our disagreements honestly and graciously because we know Jesus Christ. What do you do when Christians disagree?  Hold your convictions but hold them in love. Today God would say to you...

"Love others as I have loved you"

Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
