Wonderful Counselor

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah reminds us of God’s gift of Jesus as our "Wonderful Counselor" (Pele’ yo‘ets)

Jesus has many names and He deserves every title of distinction. Today let's talk about Jesus as our “Wonderful Counselor.” Here Jesus is referring to the Holy Spirit as the Counselor. "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."(John 14:26) How wonderful! That means the Spirit helps us store God’s Word in our heart, understand it with our mind, and apply it to our life. Praise the Lord! There is no counselor on earth who can completely relate to our experiences, to our circumstances and to our feelings. But this little baby we celebrate this Christmas, grew up to experience everything we do. In his words are health and healing. Let this be the season to realize how the Lord longs to minister in our lives, “And with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need” (Hebrews 4:16). Come often to the throne of grace and meet your "Wonderful Counselor."
