"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9
Isaiah reminds us of God’s gift of Jesus as our "Mighty God" (El Shaddai)
"What a Mighty God We Serve!" Perhaps the most notable aspect of this prophecy is that this king would be our Mighty God. "Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limits of the Almighty God?" (Job:117) The contrast is startling, Jesus is kind and loving, but He is also a fierce warrior. Each of us will face difficult times in our lives. It’s part of life and necessary for growth. When pieces start to break apart from your life remember what Job said; "God is Mighty." (Job 36:5) Through His strength we have the courage to face every fear. No matter whether the earth shakes under our feet, through Christ, we can find joy, peace, and serenity. Daily He reminds us of "The exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe." (Ephesians 1:19). He who is "Beautiful beyond description," is indeed "Too marvelous for words." Let us always remember even as we see Him lying as a babe in the manger... Jesus is our Mighty God still today. Amen!
"We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty!" Revelation 11:17
