The Weight of Burdens
"Bear Ye one another Burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ" Galatians 6:2
I think it's safe to say that each of us have experienced some burdens in our life. Burdens can come in all shapes and sizes, big, small, bearable and unbearable, or at least that's how they feel. Yet, within the pages of Scripture, we see instructions calling for us to bear one another's burdens. To bear a burden means to help carry the weight someone else is carrying in a challenging situation. It can seem like a difficult and weighty thing to do. Before you decide to help, ask yourself the question? Are you there to pick them up even if it means having to carry them? If you have ever had a heavy burden to carry in life, you know what a huge blessing it is to feel that someone actually cares about you and is willing to help you bear it. Jesus feels our pain. When we rejoice, He is happy. When we are dealing with cares that are hard, He bears them with us. In His grace, we can show others what love looks like. The truth of life is that one day, you may be the person giving help and another day you may be the person needing help. Jesus is calling us to be more conscious of one another's burdens. He showed this kind of love on the Cross. The greatest form of love we can show is laying down self for someone else.
"If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you say's to them, go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?" James 2:15-16.
Sweetest Blessings,
