The Gift of Time

The Gift of Time

"Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." James 4:14.

Time...Is it just me or does it seem like time is slipping by much faster these days? I am reminded of how much time I waste. I wonder, does it matter? What if God asks us to make account of our time? "So, then each one of us will give an account of himself to God." {Romans 14:12.} Time is a constant presence in our lives, so it makes sense that we were charged with how we spend our time. While the list of all the things we want to do grows, the amount of time we are given in a day stays the same. It is time that offers us a sense of order or disorder that guides our actions and offers direction for where we place our attention. Might it behoove us to find a balance between hustle and learning to find contentment. What if we choose to view time as a precious gift? Every day is a gift and everyday miracles are scattered about if only we take time to see them. Our time is in the Creators hands. One day there will be no more time available to us. We can't buy more time; we can't go back and right all our wrongs. We can never again tell a loved one how much they are loved. That thought alone should give each of us a greater value of our time.

"So, teach us to count our days that we may gain a wise heart." Psalm 19:12.

"Whether brief or longer, time is given us by God with a view to eternity."

Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
