Freedom: Having a firm foundation of the truth from God's Word.
Now the Lord is Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.: 2 Corinthians 3:17 (ESV).
Freedom..This week we celebrate Independence Day in America. The day we recall the battle for freedom from tyranny in our country. (The illegitimate possession of power.) I love this quote from John Adams to his wife Abigail, on the day the Second Continental Congress voted for independence. He said, "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the greatest anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by some solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty." As we look at the world around us today, we are still faced with same problems that are just as serious and of great concern. Jesus gives us hope with these words,"So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed." (John 8:36). How is this freedom different from the freedom we celebrate on Independence Day? The Cross provides the bridge. Through the sacrifice of God Almighty's beloved Son, Christ Jesus, the part of us that was under sin's tyranny was put to death on the cross. Let freedom ring!
"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (NKJV).
"May you experience the freedom of your Risen King today as you live in the light of His powerful grace."
