Family Matters

What's On My Heart Today
My Wilderness Journey "Family Matters"

My husband and I are blessed with a large blended family. The concept of family is extremely important from the very beginning of the Bible. This I know... Children are a blessing from God! There are times in life when no one else can take the place of family. The reason I want to add our children to my wilderness journey post is because it was through this season that God spoke to my husband and I about being good stewards of praying for our children. Never stop praying for your children. Commit them to the Lords keeping.

"Family Matters"

One of the reasons I place so much value on my family is because of my belief in God. I believe the family matters to God. There are many times in our life that we need our friends, but there are other times that family has an irreplaceable role. God has chosen the framework of family. So it is essential that we view parenthood from God’s perspective. Our families are where we experience our biggest triumphs and our deepest vulnerabilities and they are where we have the greatest potential to do good.

Today, when the American family is falling apart, it is more important then ever to hold your children close. Just as we need our family for physical support, we need them for spiritual support too. It is where we learn the social graces of loyalty, cooperation, and trust. It is where we learn to love ourselves and each other, to bear one another’s burdens, to find meaning in our life and to give purpose to others lives. Teach your children about God and our beautiful life together in Eternity.

"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

There are so many broken families today. Many of our friends grieve over children that choose not to have them in their lives. I can't imagine that heartache. But let me encourage you not to let that soak in your heart. What today looks like, can look completely different tomorrow. Never underestimate the power of God to change your circumstances. Our Heavenly Father loves His children and He understands your heartache, He will intervene on your behalf. Sometime that intervention comes with acceptance and peace in your heart. The best thing that you can do for your children is to be happy.

I wonder how many blessings we owe to our parents/grandparent's faithful prayers? If you are praying parents, your role in life is significant. Realize that great work is done in the prayer closets. Praying mothers, fathers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, sons, daughters, neighbors, friends all hold the power to call God into their loved ones lives. Safety, guidance, joy, wisdom. The list goes on and on.

"Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward." Psalm 127:3

Create a treasure trove of memories with your family now, and it will give you much joy in your seasoned years. We as parents and grandparents challenge ourselves to invest monetarily for our future, but did you know that a wiser investment is praying for your family? It pays greater dividends.
