"The LORD came and stood there, calling as at the other times, 'Samuel! Samuel!' Then Samuel said, 'Speak, for your servant is listening." 1 Samuel 3:10
How do you know if it is really God speaking to you? Maybe you have a big decision to make and need guidance, you want to hear words of wisdom directly from God, how can you be sure? I think that “hearing God speak” may mean different things to different people. In truth, it’s a very biblical concept. From the beginning of creation God has spoken to his people. Today he speaks primarily through his messengers (pastors, teachers, and fellow believers), His Word, and the Holy Spirit’s voice in our hearts. We don't have to wonder whether a prompting or internal word is from God, Satan, or our imagination. The Lord's voice is unmistakable. He speaks with power and authority. The true test, however, is that words from God to individuals always, without exception, agree with the Bible. God never contradicts himself. May God bless you as you learn to listen to his voice.
