Sweet by and by

What's On My Heart Today

"For this world is not our home; we are looking forward to our everlasting home in Heaven." Hebrews 13:14

Sweet by and by...We have recently relocated and are in the process of purchasing a new home. While this is such a sweet gift, it is not our first home. In looking back, I wondered why we felt the need to move each time. Oh! There were certainly good reasons to move, but honestly, it always seemed to begin with a longing. We spend so much time in our lives looking for the perfect home. I'd venture to say, the amount of time we have spent in this life with this one goal, is huge. Don't you agree? A home to fill our hearts with happiness and our lives with peace. Yet, in time, our hearts again begin to yearn for something different. I wonder, "Why aren't we ever satisfied?" I've heard it said that each of us has an inherent longing in our heart for our everlasting home in Heaven. This would explain why we never feel satisfied or settled here on earth. This earth is not our home. What does our Spirit know that our minds can't seem to grasp? I wonder, have we lost sight of the "sweet by and by?"

"Let not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in Me. in My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.'' John 14:1.

This world is not my home, I'm just passing through
My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue.
The angels beckon me from heavens open door
And I can't feel at home in this world anymore.
