What's On My Heart Today
"Secret Thoughts"
"For the weapons of warfare are not carnal, but mighty to God for pulling down strongholds; casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:4-5.
Secret Thoughts...I confess, I sometimes wake up with disturbing thoughts. Thoughts that have no space in my wakeful hours. Is it a sin to have intrusive thoughts? Simply put... Our mind is a battleground for sin. Whatever form our thoughts take can be dangerous to our spiritual well being. This word from Paul tells us to deal with these thoughts on the spot. Your mind is active and thinking during every waking hour and yes, even in your dreams.
One of the reasons why we get mentally fatigued during the day is because there’s a battle in our mind 24 hours a day. Your thoughts have tremendous ability to shape your life for good or for bad. Developing a habit of watchfulness over your thinking is a challenging discipline that will change your life and protect your spiritual house.
Pay attention! What was that my mind just told me? Is that true and good, blessed and holy? Take that thought captive, break it down and bring it under submission to the truth of God's Word. Determine if there is any truth in it and banish the lies. A good day will follow.
Everyday pray David's prayer from Psalm 139:23, "Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! Think about all you can praise God for and be glad it it.
"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philippians 4:8.
Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
