Holy Hugs

What's On My Heart Today "Holy Hugs"

"Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor" Romans 12:10

"Holy Hugs" or "A warm greeting." Okay, maybe the idea of hugging those we may not know well can make some of us squirm. Some people are extremely private and don't like people invading their space. American culture has taught us the 'value' of personal space and social propriety, as well as the fear of spreading germs. But maybe we're missing out on something precious here.

Maybe we should try to recapture the lost practice of expressing affection for one another. Have we become so culturally adapted that we use the world's yardstick to determine what makes us uneasy? All it takes is one generation to loose something precious. More can be said with a hug then just about any other show of affection.

If your uncomfortable with hugs, that's OK, don't feel badly. A bright smile, and a kind friendly greeting speaks volumes. However, if your like me and hugging somehow reminds you of our Father's love, the next time you approach someone that you may or may not know, if the spirit moves you, reach out to them with a handshake from the heart...I call it a "Holy Hug."
