"I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness..." Jeremiah 31:3
In spite of such disloyalty, God loved the people of Israel. What was it that bound Him to these people who continually broke the covenant? What is it that binds God to the church today with all its imperfections? What makes God continue to bless the church and use it as his instrument of witness to the world? We can find the answer in Jeremiah. “I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” God’s everlasting love, pledged to his people, is the cord that binds God to his people. The Lord never abandoned his people all those many years ago and He's is just as faithful to His children today. When we dip deep in sin and repent, He forgives and He forgets! Our Lord's forgiving, enduring love is as certain as the cross and the open tomb of our Savior, which bear profound testimony to a love that never dies.
Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
