Why Mountains

Why Mountains

"I will make My mountains a road and the highways will be raised up." Isaiah 49:11.

Mountains...We are all aware of our mountain top and valley experiences in our life. It is a simple fact of a created world. Most Christians love mountain top experiences. We delight in the feeling of being especially close to God. Where mercy and love kiss our checks. Spiritual mountain tops are wonderful spots to rest. The opposite of mountain top is the valley. Psalm 23 uses four words to describe these valley experiences: shadow, death, fear, and evil. This is where we discover our own weakness and the truth of God's Promises.  But, what happens in the in-between, the middle of a mountain where mountain climbers often stop to rest. Lets look at the middle of a mountain as a place where everyday life happens? In what has been and what will be. In truth, most of our life is lived somewhere between where life temps us, terrify us, test us, and try us. Life is a long series of mountaintop experiences, a long walk in the valley with an occasional trek up the side of the mountain for a breath of fresh air. Then, it’s back to work at the bottom. Life was never meant to live on a mountain top, mid mountain or the valley. It is journey. So why mountains? Well, it is called life and somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer. Remember, that our mountain experience is not to befuddle us but to bless us.

"Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth; the glory of the Lord shall be revealed." Isaiah 40:4-5

Problems form an important part of our lives. They are placed in our path for us to overcome them, not to be overcome by them.
