Cherish Your Spouse
"Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband." Ephesians 5:33.
Cherish...Do you ever find yourself irritated with your spouse even though you know you love each other? Maybe you say hurtful things forgetting to express how special they are to you? Your not alone, this has a way of creeping into the best of marriages and can be very unsettling. Familiarity often breads contempt and marriages suffer. Maybe its time for a heart check? When you find you and your spouse having one of those days, remind yourselves of the word, "Cherish." Thriving couples cherish each other. Their relationships is characterized by honor, admiration and mutual respect. To treasure or cherish means to value, to deeply appreciate, to take pleasure in and to esteem. Take heart, the next time you find yourself with less then loving thoughts towards your spouse, understand that God created everyone to be different to make your marriage stronger. Ask God to help you cherish the unique characteristics in your spouse. You may not feel loving, but if you decide to cherish your spouse, the feelings will follow. Keeping your marriage strong, vibrant and fresh isn’t always easy. But if you put in the time and effort, you’ll discover how truly amazing your marriage can be.
"Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack in gain. She does him good and not evil all the days of her life." Proverbs 31:10-12.
"In the same way husbands dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life." 1 Peter 3:7.
Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
