It's Time to Declutter

What's on My Heart Today

It's Time to Declutter

"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where the thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in Heaven...For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Matthew 6:19-21

Declutter...How much "stuff" did you get for Christmas? Does it call you to declutter your home so you will have room for it all? Jesus sounds pretty serious in our Scripture today, He encourages is disciples to invest their treasure wisely where their value won't be lost. Treasures are precious. Our heart always follows what we treasure. I wonder if Jesus is talking more about our inner spirit, our heart, mind and soul? We often don't see the clutter creep in our hearts but if our home is cluttered it is often a matter of the heart. Example, are you holding  anger, unforgiveness, selfishness, past hurts, pride or even worry in your heart? Just as we need to declutter our external lives, there is a Spiritual side of decluttering. Keeping clutter out of our heart should be a daily task. Just like housekeeping. If we come humbly to God asking Him to declutter our souls and cleanse our hearts, it is stepping back from the throne of our life and letting Christ take His rightful place. Happy decluttering!

David diligently asked God to look at His heart. "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and a new spirit within me." Psalm 51:10.

Sweetest Blessings,
Jo
