Merry Christ-mas

"Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him." Matthew 2:2

Some people never associate Christ with Christmas. But take another look at the spelling of the word; Christ-mas. There it is... Christ! The true meaning and essence of the word is about Christ Jesus, our Messiah, Redeemer, and Savior. Jesus came to earth, a baby born in a lowly manger in the humblest way imaginable. The tiny baby in that stable in Bethlehem was born King of the Jews. He did not come as one who would conquer and rule the nations. His purpose was to restore humanity’s broken relationship with God and to redeem man. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. Christ came as the perfect King and remains our perfect King today. This is Christmas, not the tinsel, not the giving and receiving, not even the carols, but the humble heart that receives anew the wondrous gift of Christ Jesus. Christmas is a holy celebration, saying "Merry Christmas" is a way of expressing our faith. It is a way of proclaiming to the world that we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Let's all make sure that we keep "Christ" in our Christmas this year.
