"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28
Thanksgiving is over, the dishes are done, the guest have left...Now what? Maybe you are left with anxiety, weary, exhausted, and depleted? Sound familiar? Where do you go to find rest after a big holiday? Perhaps it is best found in the words of a Carpenter, who reminds us in our Scripture today, where rest is found. "Come to "me" and "I" will give you rest." We so often carry such heavy burdens that the Lord never intended us to carry. This is a word in season to all you who are weary; The Lord's promise today is that He will give you rest for your soul and He will make your burdens bearable. Isn't it a beautiful thing that He cares about how tired and weary you are and He lovingly invites you to come into His presence and find rest. In the midst of chaos, draw from the infinite riches of His Mercy and Love. Close your eyes and Imagine Him standing right beside you, arms open wide, offering to carry your heavy burdens. It's a sweet thing to sit quietly in the presence of Him and find relief from what is weighing you down and find refreshment for your soul.
