Manna From Heaven

"...man does not live by bread alone, but man lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Deuteronomy 8:3

I love homemade bread! I'm pretty sure that homemade bread is the manna from Heaven. While that sounds silly, it's really not so far from the truth. Why? Because the fact that I love bread so much always reminds me of what the true 'bread of  life' is, and where it comes from. We first hear about manna during the forty years between the time the Israelites left Egypt and entered the Promised Land. Through hardship, they realized that they needed the Lord to survive. God miraculously provided "Manna" (bread) from Heaven to sustain them. Moses reminded them that "Man does not live by bread alone, but lives by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord." Devine love brought divine power into play for the needs of the people. The Israelites were tasked during this time with trusting God. God teaches us that under all circumstances our needs are met when we look to Him and His provision. God showed the Israelites that although He could satisfy their hunger, His words were far richer, more satisfying and essential for Life. Suffering reminds us that we must depend on God alone. If you’re going through your own wilderness experience today, take faith in the knowledge that it’s God’s loving way of sustaining all your needs.
